Narrator Now we're going to talk about how C4D is used for product visualization. Cinema 4D is a very important tool in the pipeline. The pipeline being a set of stages or processes that get us from concept to completion. If we really simplify the pipeline into three discrete processes, generally 3D work fits in the middle. And by that I mean the proceeding and following parts are usually 2D stages. So in our first 2D stage, we're looking at gathering information about the project, sketching out ideas, and general design work. And then we move into importing 3D models, or modeling our own. And if you're importing models, you'd probably do some clean up.

Then we texture and light the models before rendering, getting the work out of 3D and back into the 2D world, where we would composite, do some colour grading and general finishing of the work. Cinema 4D has a fantastic tool set for creating and manipulating models. It also supports the import and export of many formats, so users can bring in models that aren't in a native.c4d format and still work with them.In addition to the excellent render engines that ship with Cinema 4D, there are also many third party renderers available, which are nicely integrated into C4D and its interface. So much so that they almost feel native. Examples being V-Ray, Arnold, Octane, and the soon to be released Cycles, which Blender users will be familiar with. So users are given a wide choice.

When it comes to getting work out of the 3D world and back into 2D, Cinema 4D also integrates with the Adobe suite of applications, so artists can easily move on to the next stage in the pipeline to finish and deliver projects. Enrich your understanding of how to work with materials and lighting in CINEMA 4D (C4D), and see how to incorporate these techniques in your product visualization workflow.

In this course, review core C4D concepts, discover how to work with models that are not in the native C4D format, and see how to build different kinds of materials—bumpy, luminous, reflective, and refractive—as well as how to work with existing materials on imported models. This course also shows how to work with cameras to create effects such as depth of field, how to use Global Illumination and other lighting methods to enhance the realism of your renders, and more. This is an introductory course, but if you're brand new to C4D, check out CINEMA 4D R18 Essential Training: The Basics. In that course, instructor Andy Needham starts from the very beginning, introducing you to the interface and other basic concepts to help you understand what C4D is and how it functions.
